Meet Isaac “Ike” Bevin

At 16 years old, Isaac is one of the youngest drivers in the Late Model Stock Car series and a new addition to the Lee Faulk Racing team! This Kentucky native is on the fast track to the big leagues, yet still manages the daily life of a sophomore teenager. We sat down with Isaac to chat about the upcoming season, our new partnership, and the true meaning behind number 27.

Q: Where did your racing career start and how did you get to where you are now?

A: My first time racing (that wasn’t a toy) was at Bluegrass Indoor Karting when I was 9 years old in Louisville, KY. Ironically, this was also the same place that current NASCAR truck series driver, Ben Rhodes, first raced. I drove karts mostly at this indoor track, but also occasionally at a couple of outdoor tracks in the Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio region. I first drove an actual racecar with a manual transmission at the age of 14 (just shy of my 15th birthday) on a rainy day at the Charlotte Motor Speedway course. I loved it, but it wasn’t pretty—I left the track in a tow truck twice.

Q: How do you feel about entering this new chapter in your racing career?

A: Racing late model stock cars this [2021] season will be a big step up for me and I am grateful for Copart’s partnership and their support to help make this possible. In preparation for my first race, I have spent four days testing (20 hours at the track with approximately two hours of seat time) at two different tracks in North Carolina: Hickory Motor Speedway and Tri-County Speedway.

Q: Why #27? Does that number have a meaning?

A: Honestly, I’ve just always liked the number. Also, it rhymes with my name which makes it easy and fun for announcers to say (more often) since it rolls off the tongue e.g., “number 27 Isaac Bevin” or “here comes Isaac Bevin in 27.”

Q: Can you tell us a bit about your car for this season?

A: It’s a 3,100 lb. late model stock car (based off what NASCAR currently runs) with approximately 520 horsepower, Hoosier Racing Tires and an Endurance Motor Engine which levels the playing field [for all the drivers].
