You can find almost anything designed to move people or things in Copart’s online vehicle auctions. Some people only know us as a salvage vehicle auction house, but we’ve grown well beyond that after more than four decades in business.
Total Loss Insurance Vehicles
We’re probably best known for selling total loss vehicles at auction for insurance companies. These vehicles still make up a significant portion of the inventory featured in our auctions, even though it’s now just one part of the 4 million vehicles we sold last year. Recyclers and hobbyists love these vehicles.
We also see international demand for these vehicles from places like Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Many places have a much lower cost of labor, so vehicles that aren’t worth what it would cost to repair them in the US can be repaired and resold at a profit.
Many entrepreneurs around the globe make an above-average living for themselves and their families using this business model.
Repossessed & Off-Lease Vehicles
When lenders take possession of vehicles because someone missed too many missed payments, many of those cars wind up in our auctions. These vehicles can range from Copart Select quality vehicles that make great inventory or personal transportation to severely damaged models perfect for recycling parts. Many can be exported, fixed and flipped. You can find all our repo vehicles that don’t meet our high Select standards in our weekly Bank-Repo Vehicle Auctions at 11 a.m. Thursdays.
Light, Medium & Heavy Trucks
If you need to transport inventory or other heavy loads, you can find plenty of box trucks, semis, trailers and tractors in our Specialty Vehicles Auctions at 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday. We also auction many vehicles that donate parts to keep other trucks in service.
Heavy Equipment
Copart offers a wide range of heavy equipment and farm machinery in all conditions. If you need backhoes, bobcats, forklifts, tillers, mowers, plows, road graters, steamrollers, etc., we offer them in all conditions in our Specialty Vehicle Auctions at 11 a.m. Fridays.
Former Fleet Vehicles
You’d be surprised how many companies of all sizes own and operate fleets of vehicles. From company cars to work trucks, we list them for sale after the businesses no longer need them or have depreciated them off the books. These vehicles often benefited from routine and preventative maintenance under the care of a fleet manager.
Many of these vehicles find new lives as used car inventory and personal vehicles.
Former Rental Cars
Rental car agencies like to keep their inventory at or close to the current model year. Many vehicles that age out of rental fleets still have plenty of miles and years of service left.
Copart regularly lists vehicles from Hertz, Sixt, Enterprise and other well-known national brands. Be sure to check out our Rental Car Auctions at 11 a.m. CT on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Trailers
Members can find open, closed, general cargo, boat haulers, campers, and other trailers in our auctions. Many of them are road worthy or can easily be made so. For business or pleasure, many people want to buy used trailers for their transport needs or to keep expensive trailers in service longer with donated parts. If you need a trailer, be sure to check out our Specialty Vehicle Auction on Mondays and Thursdays.
Boats
Copart lists boats of nearly every description, including sailboats, fishing boats, jet skis, houseboats, small yachts, party boats and more. We even occasionally see rowboats and canoes show up for auction.
Emergency Response Vehicles
Police interceptors, patrol cars & SUVs, ambulances and firetrucks regularly show up in our auctions after cities finish with them. These vehicles often make lower-cost options for small governments with fewer resources, and lower-cost parts donors.
Emergency vehicles of all types have dedicated collectors who search Copart for their next project.
Other…
There are some vehicles and lots you can occasionally find on Copart that defy any classification other than “other.” These have included frame bending equipment, mysterious machinery from state highway departments, and even a coffin.
The fact you never know what might show up for auction is part of what makes this business so interesting, and never boring. Browse through our full inventory and see what treasures and oddities you stumble across. But be warned, it can be habit forming.
